About
Hi, I'm a writer, editor, and journalist living between Philadelphia and Metro Manila. I write a newsletter called Other Kinds of Intimacy. I also teach writing to students of all ages.I worked as a reporter in Philadelphia for more than a decade, most recently as an investigative reporter at the Philadelphia Inquirer focused on workers' rights.I got my MFA in creative writing at Randolph College. I was a Lambda Literary Writers Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ Voices fellow and a Leeway Foundation Art & Change grantee, and I'm currently a Silliman University National Writers Workshop fellow.My longform journalism has been featured on Longform.org, The Sunday Long Read, and the Ann Friedman Weekly. I've won awards from the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association, the Asian American Journalists Association, the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association, the Pen & Pencil's Philadelphia News Awards, and others.In Philly, I perform with URIOL, a Korean drumming group, and organize a Filipino potluck. I'm an advisor to FORTUNE, a print collective assembled by and for queer and trans Asian publics. I served on the board of the Asian American Journalists Association, in both local and national positions, for a decade. I'm also a prolific letter writer.
